O’Neil Cruz Knocks Out Opponent’s Tooth

The most electric prospect in baseball got a little more electric last night during a game with the Marlins.

The Marlins may have taken a W against the Pirates last night, but it did not come without a price for infielder Miguel Rojas.

During the ninth inning O’Neil Cruz attempted to steal second during the close game’s ninth inning. Miguel Rojas fielded the catcher’s throw to second, and applied the tag. Cruz was sliding in feet first, and popped up out of the slide while Rojas was standing over him trying to get the out.

Rojas’ mouth was directly over where Cruz was, and when he popped up Cruz’s helmet slammed into the face of Rojas, knocking out his tooth. Rojas left the game after suffering that injury.

The Pirates tied the game in the ninth and scored two runs in the top of the tenth, but couldn’t close the game out as the Marlins scored three times to walk off in extras.

You can literally see the tooth fly out in the video which is crazy. Hope Rojas gets well soon and the dentist does a good job getting him right.
