It may be possible that America is getting a little too inclusive.

A sex therapist from Pennsylvania has recently gone viral over the internet after posting a Youtube video claiming that pedophile’s are wrongly discriminated against. Miranda Galbreath, a licensed professional counselor and sex therapist, decided to post a video online explaining how people sexually attracted to children have been mistreated over the years. Golly, is that a hot take!

In Galbreath’s video, she says that the term “pedophile” is a “judgemental, hurtful insult” used against “the most vilified population.” Instead, Galbreath believes that a more fitting term for those who want to have sex with children is “minor-attracted persons,” or MAPs for short.

Galbreath believes that the word “pedophile” marginalizes those who can’t help but be attracted to minors. She compares liking children to being homosexual and says that MAPs “have not chosen this attraction… you don’t get to choose to be heterosexual or gay, and you don’t get to choose to be a minor-attracted person.”

She even goes into more detail describing the different types of MAPs. Galbreath explains that while some MAPs are only interested in specific age ranges others just like them under 18. She also states that some MAPs only like children, while some are interested in both adults and minors.

While Galbreath does make the point to say that “attraction does not equal action,” she never fully condemns acting on these urges. Not once does the sex therapist conclude that physicality between MAPs and children is wrong, disgusting, or disturbing. Instead, she focuses all of her time standing up for the sexual predators she is endorsing.

The video has received harsh backlash online to say the least. With over 1.7 million views on Twitter alone, the video has loads of comments criticizing Galbreath for her insensitivity and abhorrent ideas. One user commented “She is essentially saying that paedophilia is a sexual orientation. It isn’t. Nothing could be further from the truth. Sexual orientations don’t harm other people.” While another added, “People like her disgust me. It’s one thing to provide those people help to not act on their urges, it’s another thing to attempt to guilt people for calling them what they are.”

Personally, I think this may be one of the coldest takes in the history of the planet. I know that the U.S has been very divisive over the past few years, but I seriously thought we could at least all agree that having sex with children is a bad thing. I guess not. Not only will I continue to call people who are attracted to minors “pedophiles,” but I will never feel bad for judging them. Our society is getting so beyond soft that we care more about the feelings of people touching children than the children getting touched themselves. I don’t think this is the case with the majority of the country, but the fact that even a few people feel this way is wildly outrageous. Also, I am pretty confident that Galbreath herself is a pedophile who is just trying to wipe away the stigma before she eventually gets caught. We have so many bigger issues to fix in this country, I don’t think we need to prioritize our time helping the worst people on Earth feel better about their sick-twisted minds.
