Paramount Picture in junction with Nickelodeon just announced that they are planning three new animated films in the Avatar: The Last Airbender universe. Don’t worry, they’re not directed by M. Knight Shamalan who obviously had never seen a single episode of the show before releasing maybe the worst movie of all time.

The creators of the show, Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino will be producing at least the first movie, which really gives me some hope that the reboots are just as good as the original cartoon. The company producing this movie is called Avatar Studios which was set up specifically to produce media from the Avatar/Korra universe.

Some heavy hitters within the Nickelodeon organization are overseeing this project, so I think they’re really taking their time and effort to create a good product.

If you’re still reading this and have no idea why I care so much about an old cartoon made for kids, go watch the fvcking show and see if you’re not excited for more. Nostalgia might play a minor role, but Avatar the Last Airbender almost broke the internet when it was added back to Netflix two years ago.

Directing the first movie is Lauren Montgomery, who was also a part of the original TV show.

A live-action series for the show is being created by Netflix, but the original creators are not involved, so my hopes for that are not high.
