2022 NBA Playoffs - Brooklyn Nets v Boston Celtics

Just when we thought the NBA offseason drama had begun to slow down, Kevin Durant has made headlines once again. Initially reported by Shams Charania, NBA insider for The Athletic, Kevin Durant provided Brooklyn Nets owner Joe Tsai with an extreme ultimatum over the weekend: fire coach Steve Nash, along with general manager Sean Marks, or he will continue to demand a trade. According to Charania, Durant has voiced that “he does not have faith in the team’s direction”, and honestly I don’t know how anybody could.

Ever since NBA free agency began all the way back in June, the Nets organization has seemed to be more focused on shipping out Kyrie or KD (and at times even both) rather than figuring out a scheme to implement the “newly” acquired Ben Simmons into their system. Unless the Nets organization can turn this dumpster fire around quickly, ESPN might as well start production on the 30-for-30 detailing the colossal failure of this so-called super-team.

With how outrageously high the Nets have priced Kevin Durant, things aren’t looking so good for Nash and Marks. The Nets have made it crystal clear that trading for Durant will cost an arm and a leg – and then some – making it near impossible for any team to offer a plausible deal for KD. Charania has also reported that the Nets will “will take every last asset from a team that trades for Durant”. Who knows when, or if, a deal will get done, but the landscape of the NBA seems like it could change drastically at any moment. I guess now we just sit back and wait for the Wojbomb.
