After almost eight years of legal battles and stuff that I don’t have the brain capacity to understand, Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have finally reached an agreement in their divorce and custody of their kid. The former couple, who had been in a nearly decade-long fight to settle their divorce, have now established a co-parenting arrangement for their nine-year-old son, Maceo.
In this agreement, Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have chosen to share joint legal custody of their son. The details of the settlement have also come to the public eye. As part of the agreement, Berry has agreed to contribute $8,000 per month in child support to Martinez. This figure is paired with a detail that if Berry’s income surpasses $2 million, she will provide Martinez with an additional 4.3% of her excess earnings. Huge win for Olivier Martinez who has played some niche roles in some rather odd French films.
This divorce has been a lengthy one for the couple, their divorce was filed in October 2015, a mere two years after their marriage began. Still better than a Kardashian wedding. Their joint statement at the time emphasized their mutual decision to part ways while still valuing their love and respect for each other. Their focus on their son’s well-being was evident even then. In December 2016, they were granted legal single status by a judge.
I think it’s my turn to step up and be the father of this kid. I have loved Halle Berry since I saw her in that James Bond movie when I was a kid. She is also a very popular name thrown around in Hip-Hop. Most notably to me, in Kendrick Lamar’s song “Money Trees” he raps, “It go Halle Berry or hallelujah/Pick your poison tell me what you doing.”
It’s also worth noting that while I am in love with Halle Berry, her ex-husband really made the best out of this. He’s getting EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS A MONTH for being married to Halle Berry for 2 years. I would PAY $8 thousand a month to marry her for 2 days.
