It was announced this morning that Henry Ruggs, former wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, will spend anywhere from three to ten years in jail after agreeing to a plea deal in his DUI case. Ruggs chose to plead guilty to one felony count of vehicular manslaughter and one felony count of DUI resulting in the death of 23-year-old Tina Tintor. As a result of these guilty pleas, other charges against Ruggs will be dropped as the case moves forward to trial.
It may be easy to forget since this tragic accident happened in November of 2021, but Ruggs was speeding at 156 miles per hour when he crashed into Tintor, not to mention his blood alcohol content was double the legal limit. Cut by the Raiders immediately after the incident, it’s safe to say that Henry Ruggs’ playing days are over. While his name will likely live on forever in fantasy football leagues around the globe, I hope this case is resolved in a just manner so that both Ruggs and the loved ones of Tina Tintor can move forward from this nightmare. Another hearing is expected to be held sometime next week to make a ruling on the plea agreement and advance toward a final verdict.
