A wise man once said “Everything Woke Turns To Shit” … okay, it was Donald Trump, so maybe not a wise man … but, a man nonetheless. And it is hard to say he is wrong in many of these woke instances.
The latest example is Demi Lovato.
The new ‘they version’ of the former starlet looks like an androgynous stand-in ate the original, ‘she version.’
Let’s go to the tape, with the image below from Teen Vogue — where of course they celebrate how great they look alongside bff Paris Hilton (who actually does look great).
And just a reminder of what Demi used to looks like, pre-Woke:
One of those two images is someone that is beautiful. One is an image of someone who should be on ‘People of Walmart’ twitter…. but The Wokes will try and say that pointing this out is problematic.
Those Wokesters are wrong, of course.
We have had some fun at the expense of Lovato in the last week with they making a ridiculous statement that “aliens” would be offended by us calling them “aliens” … something so stupid that even Neil deGrasse Tyson found too juicy to pass up mocking.
There are two parts to close this post.
First, and I maintain this, Lovato has openly and bravely shared struggles with addiction, with self harm, with eating disorders, and with being a rape survivor. Honestly, those are all difficult things to overcome and the courage and strength to do it, and share it, is commendable.
Recently Lovato has announced as queer, saying, “I’ve always known I was hella queer, but I have fully embraced it.” In the same interview, Lovato reflected on being “just too queer” to date men at the time — though only dating men previously.
Then Lovato announced being pansexual and sexually fluid. Then, in subsequent months, Lovato announced as non-binary using the pronouns they/them.
I will call Demi whatever they want to be called. Pronouns, to me, are meaningless. To others they are meaningful. I respect those differences.
They are showing strength through a very tough time. That is something that should be commended…
However… the second part, is reality.
Lovato does not look great in this new phase. They look like a cry for help. They look like they have no idea who or what they are or want to be. There are probably many reasons for that, but I am not a mental doctor capable of diagnosing from afar.
There is a balance that needs to be struck between saying “YASSSSS” and just throwing blind platitudes at people when they clearly look like they are struggling.
I hate this phase for Demi and hope that they come out on the other side better for it, but saying people look great, when they clearly look like shit, is not helping them get there.
