On June 30th, the All-Star point guard from the San Antonio Spurs, Dejounte Murray, was traded to the Atlanta Hawks for a seemingly small package. Murray arrived in Atlanta just a few weeks later, and the “Dirty South” seems to have already changed the player drastically.
In a meaningless tournament, Murray was defended by Orlando Magic rookie and number one overall pick, Paolo Banchero. Being an all star and a seasoned veteran, it is no surprise that Murray would out perform the rookie, however the way he did it made fans’ jaws drop. Murray faked out the rook, and even scored, not with a layup, but with an alley-oop thrown to himself off of the back board. The disrespect was not even done there, as Murray threw the ball at Paolo after his display. I don’t know about you guys, but I gotta throw hands after that one if I’m in Banchero’s spot.
Dejounte doesn’t stop at NBA players either. In the Craws-Over PRO-AM league, a league mostly filled with amateur basketball players, Murray continued his rampage. Whilst being guarded by what Twitter is calling a plumber, Murray bounced the basketball multiple times on his opponents head before scoring on him. Yikes. When asked why he did it, Murray simply replied, ” His head was too close to my shit.” Fair enough Mr. Murray, I can not argue with that.

And this is another example I just found while researching the article. Who knows how many blatant moments of savagery Murray has put on display that were not filmed.
Fans are speculating that either the city of Atlanta, his new teammates, or a new point of view are to blame for these shenanigans. Perhaps it is a combination of all three, but all I know, is that it’s pretty entertaining to watch.
