Jamie Lynn is doing press for her memoir “Things I Should’ve Said” (her memoir was renamed after the public backlash of its previous title “I Must Confess”). Jamie Lynn went on Good Morning America for her first interview since Britney was freed from her conservatorship.
Previously, Britney Spears said she wanted her whole family “jailed for their lack of support.” In court, Britney said her sister had done “nothing” to help her.
Jamie Lynn starts by saying that she always idolized and looked up to her sister, Britney. She was always Britney’s biggest supporter.
When asked about her part of the conservatorship, she states “there was a time where my sister asked me — of her trust and will — if I would be the person who was sure that her boys got what they needed.” She continued, “once I realized that … she’s in a conservatorship, I felt like I just didn’t want to be a part of [it] until maybe she was out of the conservatorship.” “There was no me overseeing funds or something like that, and if that was, it was a misunderstanding,” she said. “Either way, I took no steps to be a part of it.”
She explains that she was 17 years old when the conservatorship was put in place. Not only was she a teen, but she was also a pregnant teen in the public eye. Her family pressured her to terminate the pregnancy against her wishes. She refused. When the news of the pregnancy leaked, she was sent to a snowy cabin in the northeast for weeks to avoid paparazzi. Got to feel for the girl.
She says that she knows as little about the conservatorship as she did when she was 17 years old. The problem with this statement is that she has previously stated that she tried to help Britney years ago get out of the conservatorship with new legal representatives. Sooooo… did she know the conservatorship was abusive or not?
Another contradiction appears later in the interview. Jamie described Britney’s mental state as “erratic,” “paranoid,” and “spiraling” in her upcoming memoir. However, in the GMA interview, the actor said she “can’t really speak to anyone else’s state of mind” when questioned about it in the interview.
Jamie Lynn also paints Britney as “not that innocent” by recalling Britney getting in her face and yelling at her while she was holding her baby Ivey. Jamie Lynn said she tried to deescalate the situation.
The interview shifted to her personal life. Years ago, Jamie Lynn’s daughter, Maddie, flipped an ATV and was trapped underwater for six minutes while Jamie Lynn tried to save her. Maddie did recover and is healthy today. Naturally, the experience was traumatizing for Jamie Lynn.
She said that the traumatic event made her examine her mental health. She started to work on her anxiety, depression, and OCD.
Jamie Lynn seems shady and this whole interview is sad. I hate to see sisters fight. I hope one day they can reunite. But I don’t blame Britney. Her family took 13 years of freedom from her. That is not easily forgiven.
