NBA All-Star fan voting blows goats. Letting the fans decide who they want to see play in the All-Star game sounds excellent. But in practice, the all-star game turns into a popularity contest that has the same players starting year after year. Joel Embiid not being a starter is a testament to what’s going wrong in the modern day NBA.
Joel Is averaging 35 points per game, 10 rebounds, and 4 assists. He leads all centers in virtually every category and has almost single-handedly wheeled the Sixers to the 2 seed in the east. He’s the number 2 or 3 MVP candidate behind the Serbian hothead Nikola Jokic and Luka “Magic” Doncic. And yet he is not a starter. Since adopting fan voting in 2003 numerous stars like Embiid who deserved a starting spot have been looked over for the more popular players as starters.
The modern-day all-star voting in the past couple of years has been dominated by 10-year-old NBA 2k sweats, shitty D3 basketball players who think they have a chance of playing in the league, and analysts who have never even dribbled a basketball. Joel Embiid is a rough character in the NBA, he is not the flashiest player in the league, and he’s not the biggest fan favorite to anyone other than 76ers fans. The man is an in your face Im better than you and you know it type of player.
But with all that aside Joel Embiid is one bad motherfucker on the basketball court. And it is a shame that he’s not a starter since he could arguably be considered the best player in basketball today. If the NBA wants the all-star game to be at its best the founder of the Mr.Clean fan club Adam Silver needs to take out all-star fan voting. And let my boy Joel Embiid feast as an all-star game starter.
