After tweeting a picture of his floating head alongside Steve Jobs on Monday, fans and reporters alike jumped to the conclusion Conor McGregor would be signing a deal with the multi-billion dollar tech powerhouse Apple. I got to give it to the guy though because this publicity stunt had everyone from the New York Times to Twitter fiends going nuts. A lot of people believed that McGregor could be signing with Apple Music.
The two-time champ took it a step further and did an entire release video that mimicked one of Apple’s classic ‘please buy the same phone you already have’ release streams. McGregor labeled the whiskey as “Smooth to the core”, and he really channeled his inner Jobs as he credited a lot of the work to the founder himself.
It was honestly one of the funnier commercials I’ve seen for alcohol considering most whiskey companies don’t really advertise. The only problem is if the new whiskey is anything like the original, it’s gonna feel like you are sucking face with a Purell-soaked apple.
In other big Conor McGregor news, Dana White announced that McGregor and Michael Chandler will be the coaches of the next season of Ultimate Fighter and will be fighting at the end of the season. Personally, I am pumped to see McGregor get back in the octagon and get a good scrap on. His past couple of fights proved that his chin was weakening, but after putting on a ton of weight I am interested to see if the 34-year-old fighter has anything left in him.
