Johnathon Majors was arrested this Saturday morning in Manhattan, and is being accused of assault and strangulation of an unnamed woman. The woman was sent to a nearby hospital with minor injuries to her head and neck. Majors and his legal team are denying the claims entirely, saying he is, “completely innocent.” They also said they have several witnesses and video footage that will show that he was confirm his innocence in the conflict.
Majors had been rising in Hollywood at a rate that was previously only accomplished by Timotheé Chalamet going viral on TikTok for an awkward looking slow-mo dance. It’s impossible to speculate on what happened between Majors and this woman, so I won’t. But let’s be honest, Majors’ will likely take the Johnny Depp side in this conflict, getting the majority of entire public to root for his innocence. From what he’s said so far, it doesn’t seem that he is worried about the future of his career. But after playing the antagonist in Creed 3, as well as being the new MCU villain, getting a reputation for violence will surely push him deeper into his typecast.
Honestly, this doesn’t seem like it’s going to affect Majors much. He hasn’t gotten significant backlash from the public up to this point. Whichever Avengers are left at this point should be terrified by the fact that their new villain doesn’t even appear to be struggling against cancel culture. Anyone in 2023 who has enough public support to be accused of hitting a woman without being cancelled will never need an infinity stone to protect themself. Hopefully, the issue isn’t as bad as initially reported, and Majors can get back to his thriving career. If it turns out to be true, I don’t think I want to see Creed 3 anymore. Anyone who only gives a helpless woman minor injuries can’t even pretend to be tough enough to hang with Apollo Creed’s son for more than a round.
