Last night, during a game absolutely nobody was watching, one of the funniest and most outrageous announcer slip-ups occurred. Just watch this video for yourself.
In the bottom of the 8th inning of an Auburn vs Vanderbilt college baseball game, announcer Tom Hart attempts to say “you can’t turn the clocks back.” However, what actually came out of his mouth was “you can’t turn the black cock black.” You sure can’t, Tom.
This has got to be the first time anyone has said “black cock” on ESPN. I’m really hoping this guy doesn’t get fired. Not only was it an honest mistake, but it ended up being great for ESPN’s engagement. This was a college baseball game after midnight that had no chance of getting any viewers. Nevertheless, it’s been more than 12 hours since the game and here we are talking about it. If anything, ESPN should be thanking Tom Hart for getting them some publicity.
May has been a big month for announcer mistakes, making this only the second worst thing to come out of a commentator’s mouth this month. I bet you’re wondering “what could be worse than saying black cock on live television?” Well I can think of one thing, for sure.
A couple weeks ago during an Oakland A’s game, announcer Glen Kuiper attempted to say “Negro League Museum “ and let’s just say that is not what came out. Watch this one if you dare.
This has got to be the worst thing ever said on live television. I mean, it’s just inexcusable. The only way he would say this is if he were actually thinking it in his head, making Kuiper a big time racist. And, as of this past Monday, Kuiper has officially been fired from the A’s pregame show.
After his termination, Kuiper somehow had the audacity to complain about being fired, calling it “a one-time mistake.” I don’t know Glen, you kinda said the one thing you are never allowed to say. Everyone knows there is no coming back from that one, just ask Paula Deen.
