Riley Gaines, the All-American swimmer turned women’s rights activist, told Bill Maher on Saturday that transgender swimmer Lia Thomas is “well-endowed”.
The pair had a conversation on Club Random with Bill Maher that was released over the weekend, where a curious Maher asks Gaines about Thomas’s physique directly “How big is it?” Gaines replies, saying “This is a six foot four man”. Watch:
A chuckling Maher asks for more specific details, but Gaines keeps things high level, while pushing back on Maher’s use of gender-affirming pronouns when referencing Thomas.
Then when Gaines confirms that Thomas did not actually beat her in competition, but that they tied, Maher quips about what Thomas could beat Gaines with in the locker-room. Watch:
Gaines and Thomas shared a locker-room during the 2022 NCAA Swimming Championships in Atlanta. Gaines explained how she tried to refrain from seeing Thomas completely disrobed, but that her and the other female swimmers who were there “Can’t unsee it”. She said “Being in that space with a male, it’s like a bad car wreck”.
Gaines has quickly become a vocal leader in the fight to preserve women’s sports, speaking out against the NCAA which is allowing biological men who identify as trans women to compete against biological women.
Earlier this Summer, Gaines started a podcast with OutKick called Gaines for Girls . And in April, a tweet of her being assaulted by trans rights activists after giving a Save Women’s Sports speech in San Francisco went viral.
The former swimming champ seems poised to make a career out of activism and political punditry.
