It’s been a little under 2 months since LeVert was traded to the Pacers and was given the horrible news that he had kidney cancer. LeVert was traded in the blockbuster James Harden traded. For some reason, I don’t think anybody who follows the NBA knows why the Rockets decided to trade LeVert for Victor Oladipo. It’s a very well-known fact that Oladipo is more than likely going to the Miami Heat this offseason when he becomes a free agent. Him turning down a 2 year $45.2 million extension from the Rockets really hammers the point that he will not be in Houston next year.
Last night LeVert made his return back to the NBA. He finished the night with 13 points, 7 rebounds in the 27 minutes played.
LeVert is only 48 days removed from having the tumor removed and playing in a professional basketball game. So there’s no excuse for your hungover ass not to be able to get out of bed this morning. When I read inspirational shit like this, it just makes me feel like the most pathetic sack of shit. I have never had to deal with anything serious, and when I get surgery on my knee in a couple of months, it will be the first time I’ll be going under.
The Pacers can really use LeVert returning as they have underperformed so far this year. The Pacers found a way to win against the red hot Suns last night as they improved their record to 17-20. Sabonis is an all-star, and Myles Turner looked like he would be a contender for DPOY, and Brogdon has played great. So it’s confusing as to why the Pacers are under .500, but with LeVert being back, that might change.
If LeVert can go back to constantly averaging 18 points a game, that will greatly improve the Pacers. LeVert can easily slide his way into the 3rd scorer for that team and be the leader of the 2nd unit. You add LeVert with scrappy T.J., and the Pacers become a lot more fun.
