Fantasy Football Studs and Duds: Week One

After one of the best “Witching Hours” I’ve seen in my entire life, I think it’s safe to say that we are all in for a stupendous NFL season. Hopefully, tonight’s matchup between the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks will bring the same level of excitement as some of the games yesterday, but I’ll be watching regardless. As we all come down from the Sunday RedZone high, let’s recap some studs and duds from Week 1 of the NFL season:

Stud: Kareem (My Pants) Hunt – 23 PPR Points

This week, Kareem Hunt went absolutely nuclear against the Carolina Panthers, scoring two touchdowns in a tight win. Although his backfield mate Nick Chubb had a solid game as well, Hunt caught the touchdown luck, perpetuating the infuriating running back situation in Cleveland even further. I can’t wait for next week when Hunt will score 5.2 points, but this time he’ll actually be in my lineup.

Dud: Sike Williams – 3 PPR Points

It seems damn near impossible that Mike Williams could have had this terrible of a game with Justin Herbert throwing for 279 yards and three touchdowns, but he did. With all the hype coming into this season for Williams and this explosive Chargers offense, this outing was pretty disappointing to see. We could see Keenan Allen out this Thursday against the Chiefs, so Williams should have a chance to bounce back in a most likely high-scoring game.

Stud: Saquon BACKley – 33.4 PPR Points

Saquon is BACK, and it’s truly great to see. After some devastating injuries, seeing prime Saquon tear up the Titans’ defense was one of my favorite parts of the week one games. If he can somehow restore his abilities pre-injury, not only will he far exceed fantasy expectations, but the Giants will upset a lot of teams this season as well.

Dud:  Kyle Shitts – 3.9 PPR Points

Surprise! The Falcons choke again, allowing seventeen points in the fourth quarter, including a last-second game-winning field goal for the Saints. But the real disappointment in this game was Kyle Pitts, hauling in two of his seven targets for a whopping total of nineteen yards. The Falcons travel to SoFi Stadium this week in a matchup against the Rams, where Kyle Pitts will probably shit the bed once again.
