Mikey Williams, a 5-star basketball prospect committed to the University of Memphis, has been arrested on five charges of assault with a deadly weapon. He was held at San Diego Central Jail and released on $50,000 bail. Williams is a high-profile player with a large social media presence that helped him secure a multimillion-dollar endorsement deal with Puma. He is considered one of the top players in the 2023 class, ranked 26th overall by 247Sports. Williams is part of a strong recruiting class for Memphis, which is currently ranked No. 7 in the country for the current cycle.

I don’t get this guy. As a 5-Star recruit, you are realistically about 14 months away from signing a multi-million dollar contract when you get selected as a lottery pick. Not only is he about to be stupid rich when he gets drafted, he already has a Puma sponsorship. Instead, you’re gonna throw that all away because you wanna assault someone with a firearm. Mikey Williams and Ja Morant are neck and neck for possibly the biggest bag fumblers of all time. Ja Morant was fined and suspended last month for going on Instagram Live in a strip club while flashing a gun, now you have Mikey Williams beating someone with a gun. I am sure Ja is gonna get his payday, but cmon Mikey. Drake said, “Damn, I swear sports and music are so synonymous ’cause we want to be them, and they want to be us”. Except these guys wanna be like convicted murderer King Von, not Drake
