Let me just start by referees in all professional sports have been bad for as long as I can remember. But In the NBA I don’t know if in all my years of watching basketball have I seen the refs be as bad as they have been this season. First of all the refs in the NBA are as soft as Charmin, a player could look at them the wrong way, throw the ball back to them too hard or just yell at themselves and a ref might T them up and throw them out of the game.
Imagine working your ass off all week just trying to muster up enough cash to go to an NBA game just to see the star player on your team get thrown out in the first 15 minutes of the game It’s absolute horseshit. Add in the refs missing calls that could completely change games and you have the worst officiating staff in all of professional sports.
I know you know the clip of Lebron crying on the ground like a toddler who got his lollipop taken away, while that clip was one of the funniest things I’ve seen all year. It’s sad to see the refs miss such an easy shooting foul call that ultimately cost the lakers the game in OT. There are countless more examples of NBA refs missing easy calls that I could bring up but you get the point. I think it’s fair to say that the refs are legally blind. And even my grandfather with cataracts could officiate a game better than these “officials”.
In all sports, officials suck whether that be in football, baseball, or hockey. But the NBA officials in my mind take the prize for the worst in professional sports and if the NBA wants to keep expanding their game and brand globally. Commissioner Adam Silver needs to step in and fix the terrible officiating going on in his league. This year has been pitiful to watch as a basketball fan because of absolute horseshit calls by NBA refs this year. And I hope in the future a change is made.
