With the trade deadline coming up on March 3rd, the Blackhawks have been making moves left and right. In the past week and a half, they have traded four players away. After trading defenseman Jack Johnson, they moved trade targets Sam Lafferty and Jake McCabe to the Toronto Maple Leafs. However, recently trading Patrick Kane to the New York Rangers has people thinking the Rangers can be Stanley Cup contenders. Rangers fans couldn’t be happier with this trade and are celebrating through all forms of social media.

I feel like it’s rare for the NHL trade deadline to make major news in sports headlines, but this trade has Patrick Kane trending #1 on Twitter. As a Rangers fan myself, I am beyond happy with this trade, but I could imagine Blackhawks fans are pretty upset about losing one of the best American hockey players of all time.

With the Blackhawks only receiving picks, their fanbase is kinda concerned that they are not going to get Patrick Kane’s worth in return. While it’s impossible to determine the value of trade picks, it is apparent that the Blackhawks are entering a period of rebuilding. While they might be rebuilding, this organization is definitely not tanking, considering they were on a five game winning streak prior to their loss to the Ducks last night. On the other hand, the Rangers, who should be playoff contenders, have lost four of their last five games. Hopefully, the new addition of Patrick Kane to their team will reignite their season.
