The San Antonio Spurs have won the 2023 NBA Draft Lottery and earned the first overall pick, giving them the opportunity to select highly touted prospect Victor Wembanyama. Wembanyama, a 7-foot-3 player with the craziest bag you have ever seen, is expected to have an immediate impact in the NBA.

The Spurs have previously won the lottery twice, selecting David Robinson in 1987 and Tim Duncan in 1997, both of whom became Hall of Fame players. The Charlotte Hornets will pick second, followed by the Portland Trail Blazers at third and the Houston Rockets at fourth. The Detroit Pistons, despite having the worst record, fell to fifth in the draft order.

When I mentioned his bag earlier, I was not playing around. This is the craziest highlight I have ever seen based on the fact that his length is comparable to nobody else in the league today. At 7″3 to be moving like that shouldn’t be allowed. He is an alien compared to a normal player. I really hope he is able to pan out though. We’ve seen guys who are supposedly supposed to “change the game” but end up getting hurt or having solid but not amazing careers.

San Antonio seems to be the perfect spot for him too. That organization is as solid as it gets and there won’t be any pressure to win right away. Greg Popovich knows what he’s doing with talented young stars, so I am excited to see what Victor turns out to be.
