So a couple of days ago Shams reported that Talen Horton-Tucker was going to the Jazz so that Patrick Beverly could be sent over to the Lakers. And this is perfect for so many reasons.
The first of which is the beef between Russell Westbrook and Patrick Beverly over the years. That is perfect because these two guys are about as big of enemies as it gets. Patrick Beverly has ‘accidentally’ injured Russ before in a playoff game in order to start this saga of beef, and it honestly hasn’t slowed down since. The two of them are like the ever so slightly younger version of Rajon Rondo and Chris Paul. And the fact that these two are now going to be forced to play together is hilarious.
But that is not the only reason why this trade is perfect. This trade is also perfect because there was a time not so long ago when Talen Horton-Tucker was deemed too valuable of an asset to trade to the Raptors in a package to bring in Kyle Lowry. And I won’t say that I speak for every NBA fan when I say this, because the fans of the Timberwolves exist, but I feel like maybe having Kyle Lowry would be nicer than having Patrick Beverly. And maybe, just maybe, that means that the Lakers were completely wrong in their evaluation of THT’s talent levels and they probably should have parted with him last year so they could have gotten a greater return on investment from him.
I mean honestly, Talen will probably end up being the best player on the Jazz next season as well if the history of young Lakers players leaving the Lakers proves anything.
As I said before this trade is absolutely perfect, as long as you live in good ole’ Beantown and hope to see the Lakers totally fail as an organization.
