Oh, yea. The hype is absolutely real. The World Cup is right around the corner, and the United States Men’s National Team just dropped their roster, and oh boy were there omissions.

The first thing I’d like to say off the top is that apparently, the United States international team is just hospital FC. The more I dug into the pretty major omissions from this roster the more I realized that. First off, we’re missing our most consistent Left Back in Antonee Robinson, so naturally, I wondered, why would you leave out a guy who has been in the first team for practically the entire run of the United State’s attempt to get into the world cup? And of course, it was because he got injured against Tottenham. Our amazing winger Timothy Weah who plays for French club Lille? Another man down with an injury right now. It’s ridiculous at this point.

Additionally, one of our top Goalkeepers was mysteriously left off of the final roster for the World Cup as well. Zac Steffen, who is a backup keeper for Manchester City. So I looked into that as well, and guess what? Another freaking injury. The more I looked into it the more frustrated I got. Why are these guys always getting injured? I mean I guess we’ll never know, but let’s try and forget about these injuries for a bit.

Let’s start with Josh Sargent. Man, I am so happy for this guy, he has had a major resurgence in the Championship League in England. His current form is five goals and an assist across eight matches. Josh Sargent initially was within the squad for World Cup Qualifications but eventually fell out due to his lack of finishing in the final third. However, this recent run of form has allowed him to get back on the 26-man roster we send to Qatar and I could not be happier for him. He deserves it.

This team is incredibly young and incredibly hungry. I know I’m excited to see how this roster takes the field in the 2022 World Cup, even with the loss of so many players due to injuries.
