4th of July Drinking Games

Friends celebrating forth of July. It is summer and they are dancing, singing and having fun together. Holding American flag.

My personal favorite holiday of the year is the 4th of July. Besides the fact that we piped the British in 1776, we get to celebrate it every year by drinking copious amounts of booze and blowing things up. It really is the definition of America. Here are a couple of games to play on the 4th of July to celebrate our freedoms.

National Anthem Keg Stands: This is a simple game, all you need is a keg and a couple of friends. Start drinking as soon as your friends begin singing the National Anthem. Whoever makes it the furthest in the song is the winner. This also just shows who knows the Anthem the best.

Boston Twea Party: This can be a solo activity or a fun group game! Buy two tall cans of Twisted Tea and duct tape them to your hands. Whoever finishes them the fastest is the winner. This is basically Edward 40-Hands, but we are using tea because F**k the Brits.

Firework Game: This game is not for the lighthearted. Anytime you see a firework go off, go ahead and take a sip of your drink. You’ll hopefully end up in a ditch at the end of the night.

Great American Challenge: I wrote an entire blog on this so go ahead and go read that, but I would recommend starting this one earlier in the day.

True American:

True American is a drinking game featured in the TV show New Girl. The goal is to move around a room, arranged in a circle with furniture, and try to finish your drinks before other teams. Here are the basic rules:

  1. Set up a “castle” in the middle of the room with a bottle of alcohol as the king and 30 racks of beer cans as pawns.
  2. Arrange furniture in a circle around the castle, and travel around by stepping on furniture instead of the floor.
  3. Each team has a pickup spot where they start and can get new drinks.
  4. Teams of two are recommended.
  5. To pick teams, count down from three and match up with people who have the same number of fingers up.
  6. The game starts with the shout “One, two, three, four, JFK” and the response “FDR,” followed by taking a shot and grabbing a drink from the castle.
  7. Moving around the castle is determined by the number of fingers held up by each player’s teammate.
  8. Stepping on the floor requires finishing your drink before rejoining the game.
  9. The “crazy zone” is a separate area where players can be assassinated by dodge cans thrown by others.
  10. Ellis Island requires taking a shot to rejoin the game after leaving the crazy zone.
  11. The Federal Reserve allows players to switch their drinks by taking a shot.
  12. The Great Depression allows players to quickly finish their drink and jump back to their pickup spot.
  13. The game is won when a team finishes all their pawns, drinks from the vulnerable king, and takes a swig.
  14. If those rules don’t make sense, don’t worry. Just drink the 30 rack and bottle of alcohol!

If none of these games sound fun to you, just go ahead and wear Red, White and Blue, drink some alcohol and don’t forget about why America is the greatest.
