Basic Life Shit: Changing A Tire

When you move out on your own, there’s many basic life shit that you’ve taken for granted. There’s always been your dad to ask for help, and even though you were telling him that you were paying attention. You really weren’t; you were staring at your phone as your dad was on the ground doing all of the work.

You’re driving down the road, and boom, you have a flat. You could spend the extra money and have somebody tow you or give you a new tire. We all know that you rather spend the money on beer and takeout food. So let’s keep that extra money in your pocket, and I’ll walk you through how to change your own tire.

First of all, make sure that you have a spare tire in your trunk. There’s a false flooring that can get popped out, and everything will be under there. Get the spare tire out, the jack, and the lug wrench out. The first thing to do is take your hubcaps off, and those are very easy to take off since they’re plastic.

Then take the jack and place it underneath your car. Make sure actually to get the frame of the car. You don’t want to have the tire off, and then boom, the car falls on you. Nothing will tighten your asshole faster than a car falling on you. So once the car is fully jacked, and it might take a while to get it jacked. Your forearm might get a little sore, and don’t be afraid to switch hands while jacking.

Now it’s time to take the lug nuts off, and if you aren’t strong enough, don’t be afraid to kick it. Don’t be afraid to turn into Chris Brown and kick the shit out of the lug nuts. Now once the lug nuts are off, take the flat tire off. Put the new tire on, and make sure actually to have it lined up.

Then put the lug nuts back on, and tighten the shit out of them. You probably don’t have a torque wrench that will get the perfect amount of pressure, so get the shit as tight as possible.

That’s pretty much the entire thing; it’s a straightforward thing that will save you time and money. Also, a little life hack if you live in an area that is Antarctica half the year, you probably need snow tires. Get those on rims already, and then every winter and spring, you don’t need to pay somebody to change your tires. If you’re a visual person, there are hundreds of YouTube videos that will help you.
