After a picture of rapper Tekashi69 kissing his alleged boyfriend has gone viral on Twitter, it’s pretty much confirmed that he is fully out of the closet. This man has been in some wild headlines in the past, but this is just a whole nother level. I remember his song “Gummo” blowing up when I was in middle school – despite it being one of the worst songs I think I’ve ever heard – and since then he’s been an FBI informant, jumped multiple times, and now this. What a time to be alive.

It goes without saying that I have no issue with 6ix9ine coming out, but I think I speak for the rest of my generation when I say I’m flat-out appalled. 6ix9ine was an incredibly popular figure throughout my teenage years, especially amongst the white suburban kids who thought they were “from the gutter”. These same kids would clown Lil Nas X after he came out, which now might end up being the most ironic thing I’ll ever witness in my lifetime.

If I were you, I would stay away from Twitter for maybe a day or two until this whole story begins to die down. Not only did the picture of 6ix9ine and his boyfriend go wild, but an older video (that I refuse to go into detail about) also resurfaced and has been spread across Twitter as well. I’m sure many of you will go digging regardless but don’t say I didn’t warn you. Although I’m not expecting Tekashi69 to make an appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show anytime soon, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get some sort of formal statement through social media in the coming days.
