Since the end of this past NBA season, it’s been pretty clear that James Harden will not be wearing a 76ers uniform come November. However, it can never just be easy with Harden. I’m not sure a lot of teams even want this team-killer on their squad (at least good teams, anyways). Sixers’ GM Daryl Morey has been involved in quite a lot of controversy over the years, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he did some shady stuff while dealing with Harden. But, it’s not like Harden’s trade demands are all that simple to fulfill.
I feel like an Adidas-sponsored basketball camp in China was an odd place for Harden to announce to the world that Daryl Morey is a “liar” and that he will “never be a part of an organization that he’s a part of”. I mean, some of the spectators might not even understand English, so it just seems like a weird angle to play. Obviously, there was no issue getting this message plastered all over the internet, but we don’t get a whole lot of information besides Harden’s blanket statement. Maybe he just didn’t want to deal with questions – but he’s going to have to eventually. Or he’ll just get super fat again and his giant beer gut will take away all the attention from this situation. Both are equally likely outcomes.
At this point, I don’t really think anyone even cares what team Harden goes to. I know I certainly don’t. We’ll never get back the prime triple-double machine from 2018 – and that’s a fact. At least he still rocks a mean beard.
