Floyd Mayweather’s exhibition boxing match with John Gotti III took a chaotic turn when an all-out brawl erupted between the two fighters’ camps. Referee Kenny Bayless stopped the fight with less than a minute remaining in the sixth round, leading to Gotti’s disqualification for holding. In response, Gotti charged at Mayweather and landed a few punches before being separated. Mayweather’s team quickly entered the ring to confront Gotti.
No injuries were reported, and both fighters were escorted to their locker rooms. Mayweather had dominated the majority of the fight, with Gotti resorting to illegal holding and trash talk. The tension escalated throughout the match, and the chaos extended beyond the ring, with brawls breaking out in other parts of the arena. The animosity continued on social media, with Gotti’s sister posting a threatening and racially-charged message to Mayweather.
I have two things to take away from this brawl:
- Did anyone know that Floyd Mayweather had a fight scheduled for last night? I did not see any posts or social media marketing when it came to this fight. It’s not like it’s a random Youtuber fighting, its Floyd Mayweather. Without the post-fight brawl, I would have had 0 clues about it.
- Who is John Gotti III? He is the grandson of the mobster John Gotti, but why is he famous?
Exhibition fights with celebrities are the worst thing that has come from the social media age. I haven’t seen a single fight that was actually worth watching or spending the ridiculous PPV they charge. Jake and Logan Paul single-handedly ruined exhibition boxing because of how unserious it is now.
