The Eagles 2020 season has finally ended and as an Eagles fan it was a miserable year. I of course convinced myself that this was the year when we would get back to the Super Bowl. I watched the entire draft, and as somebody who barely follows College Football I spent hours watching highlight videos. I of course convinced myself that the wide receiver we got in the 6th round was going to be the next Antonio Brown.

The season started and I was glued to every game. My emotions were a rollercoaster as every Eagles loss made me a miserable asshole. Just as fast as I had convinced myself that we were going to the Super Bowl, I quickly realized that I was staring at a team that was going to be rebuilding. It was only a couple of years ago that I was getting blacked out drunk, and carrying my friend through the bar as we screamed Fly Eagles Fly. It now looks like it’s going to be a while until the Eagles are back to the glory land.

The player that has been the polarizing person in the middle of this entire run is Carson Wentz. Wentz is the first quarterback that I watched the Eagles draft, watch his growing pains, watch him almost win a MVP, and then defended against every asshole Cowboys fan who said that Dak is a better quarterback. I was too young to remember when Donovan McNabb was drafted, I of course loved the Vick era, but nothing can compare when your team drafts a player. They become part of your family from day one.

I have always defended Wentz, when people were joking how a backup quarterback won the Super Bowl, and that Wentz couldn’t have won that game. I was there yelling that if he didn’t get hurt he would have won the MVP, and if he was playing we still would’ve won the Super Bowl. I was the first to tell people that he had no weapons to throw to, and get mad at Howie Roseman for not drafting or trading for a star wide receiver. All of that arguing I have done now looks to be pointless, because the future of the Eagles isn’t Carson Wentz it’s Jalen Hurts.

I don’t know how I feel about Hurts he has shown flashes that he can be a good quarterback, but then he has shown that he is very inaccurate, and is going to have a lot of improving to do. Giants fans are still pissy that the Eagles lost on “purpose”, and all I have to say about that is win more than 6 games, and you wouldn’t have to worry about other teams. I couldn’t have cared less about the Eagles losing to Washington in a meaningless week 17 game, what really hurt me was what happened after the game. Carson Wentz, Jason Kelce, and Zach Ertz all just hung out on the field after the game. And I watched the core of an offense that I loved for years probably all play their last games for Philly.

That’s just dudes being dudes, hanging out on the field until 1am. The only thing they’re missing is a case of beers.

Zach Ertz can be a free agent after this year, Kelce almost retired last year, and Wentz is asking for a trade. All I’m rooting for is Wentz to be traded to the Colts, not because they are going to offer the most draft picks, not because Wentz is going to the AFC where the Eagles won’t see him as much. It’s 100% because I think the Colts have the best chance for Wentz to be successful, and for him to be happy. Every other time a player has requested a trade or left one of my favorite teams. I turned into the jealous ex who is happy to see them go, I didn’t want them anymore anyway. I hope they suck on their new team, and never have any success ever again. Not with Wentz I want him to join back up with Frank Wright who was the offensive coordinator in 2017-2018 when Wentz had his career year. And I want Wentz to dominate the league. I want him to win Super Bowls, win MVPs, and stay healthy so the injury prone conversation can finally die.

If he can’t be that player on my favorite team, I hope he finds success elsewhere. I hope that he isn’t on the team next year and if Jalen Hurts really is the future that we grow with him. I’m so sick of not knowing what quarterback is going to start, and having arguments with random people on the internet on what player is better.
