It’s Nothing New That Sports Fans Are Insane

We have popcorn being thrown at Westbrook, spit flying at Trae Young, random people running on the floor for the 76ers game, and a water bottle being tossed at Kyrie Irving. I’m not going to talk about Kyrie because if he were to see anything, he would spin it somehow that has to do with race. Motherfucker should retire from basketball and teach a spin class. I’ll just put this here from KG.

Maybe it’s been a long time that we haven’t had fans in stadiums, and people forget that fans are lunatics. I mean, I scream at my tv every time Julius Randle misses a mid-range jumper, and I’ve been known to rip a t-shirt or two in half when watching the Eagles. You add a lunatic like me with alcohol and the energy of thousands of fans; some crazy shit will happen. This is what’s great about sports. It creates a fandom that is hard to explain.

I figured I would take this moment to remind people that fans have always been fucking insane. I’m not going to include fans streaking across the field, but there’s hundreds of those videos floating around. That’s how insane fans are that running across a field in front of thousands of people seems rational.

Malice In The Palace

I had to start with the most famous fan and athlete experience. This is by far the most insane shit. We have average Joe’s throwing fists with Ron Artest and Stephen Jackson. This was near the end of the Bad Boy Pistons and the start of Stephen Jackson saying that he wants all of the smoke. I don’t really have much else to say. If you’re a sports fan, you’ve probably seen this video a dozen times, and you know exactly what I’m saying.

Random Fan Wanting To Fight The Pitcher

This happened 7 years ago, but it’s still insane. I can understand being upset about a high pitch if you’re the batter, but the fact that a fan was so upset that he charged the mound is crazy. What did this guy expect? If you charge the mound, you need to start throwing hands the second you get to the pitcher. Instead, this man froze like a deer in headlights and had no idea what to do. After the 3rd basemen or shortstop tossed him to the ground, he jumped up and had the entire baseball team staring at him. All he did was a little jumping and down, and then when he was brought off the field, he started pumping up the crowd. What are you pumping up the crowd for? You did nothing and made yourself look like a dumbass.

76ers Fan Flipping Off Westbrook

I might not be from Philly, but I have the Philly dirtbag energy after rooting for the Eagles for longer than 15 years. So I can understand this man giving the double birds to Westbrook. Fans erupt into crazy chants, but you know what is better than any other chant? Flipping somebody off right to their face. This is the type of energy that people who have nosebleeds seats do. People who have courtside seats are normally more civilized, but not this man. This is a die-hard fan who has probably flipped off players for years, but he was up and close to really give it to a player for the first time.

Watching sports with fans just feels right again. I didn’t think it was a big deal until I saw fans back. I was happy to have sports even if there were no fans. Watching hockey fans go insane in America compared to Canada, where no fans are allowed, is depressing. Here are my high five and stick taps; to all sports fans, just try to control yourselves.
