When the Tik Tok algorithm works perfectly, it’s a beautiful machine. For some odd reason, it probably has to do with me liking partying, and hunting videos; a video by Dirty Prescott Kids popped up on my feed. It was a split video of a dude chugging a beer, but the song in the background had me stay to watch the entire thing. Before I knew it, I was in a rabbit hole as I kept humming the first three verses of the song.
A party song needs a couple of things. First, it needs to be talking about drinking and partying. Nobody wants to listen to some deep song talking about feelings or the world in general. No, if you’re partying and drinking, you want to hear the musician talking about getting hammered. So Ray Gin checks that first box. Second their needs to be something easy to sing. Drunken idiots can’t rap like Eminem, sing their hearts out like Freddie Mercury, even though they sure think they can. They need something that they can scream at the tops of their lungs while throwing back beers. What’s easier than screaming “I’m Feeling Like Ray Gin”? Or if you want to be more adventurous and really get the people going. You could scream sing the first couple of lines. ” Fill up my cup with some whiskey and ice, I finish that then I chug a Busch Light. Don’t give a fuck about liquor b’for beer, so I guess I’m in the clear.” Your drunken ass can handle that; so Ray Gin checks box two. Next is the genre of music a party song needs to be. It used to be techno, rap, or pop songs. Now country songs dominate party songs, and what better genre is country and rapping combined: the twangy guitar and the rapping lyrics check box three.
Will Ray Gin be in the party playlist rotation? If not, you’re missing out, and it should 10000% be in the rotation.
