Alright, I am no stranger to spicy foods. I won’t pretend I’m any sort of expert but I do enjoy the layer of flavor a bit of spice can add to a meal. However, never have I ever sat down and thought to myself “you know what sounds great right now? A raw ghost pepper.”. I can also confidently say that I’ve never thought to myself, “You know what would be even better than one raw ghost pepper? 17.”. But I guess that’s just a personal preference because it was just revealed that the world record for most ghost peppers eaten in a minute was set. And that record is 17.
A man named Gregory Foster reportedly undertook this monumental feat nine months ago in San Diego California. And I know at this point many of you are questioning how the man isn’t dead, but that’s because he has no pain receptors on the inside of his body I guess. Since this man also holds the current Guinness World Record for the most Carolina Reapers consumed in a minute and the fastest time it takes to eat three California Reapers. Which yes, I know, both sound equally as painful as his most recent record.
I guess my biggest question for the guy would be how you decide to get into this profession. Did he just sit down at his table one day and decide to himself that his chosen profession would be to torture his body through spice? Am I the only one freaking out here? I mean look at other people’s reactions to eating ONE ghost pepper.
And this guy is throwing them back like they’re Scooby Snacks. At this point, I guess the only thing we have left to do is wait. Wait until some other madman is able to get 18 down in a minute.
