New Drinking Game: Texas Drink’em

On Wednesday night I was the first one to bow out of poker because, well, I was losing a lot. This meant that my friends were all ready to continue playing and I was unable to. That’s why I had to come up with something that would allow me to stay in the mix of playing poker without having to bet any real money. At this point I was only a few beers deep, so I was feeling good and a bit fun. But I also wanted to drink some more. That all blended together into a perfect storm of creativity in my brain. I created: Texas Drink’em

The rules are pretty simple: you play Texas Hold’em. If you’re unfamiliar with that, you’ll need to learn those rules first. Basically, you get two cards and try and get the best five card hand based those two cards and three of the five more cards that are drawn and flipped over. I don’t feel like explaining any more than that, so if you don’t know how to play, give it a Google.

Now to move onto the drinking aspect of the game. Instead of betting chips that equate to monetary values, you’ll bet sips of alcohol. If you fold, you have to drink however many sips were in play when you folded, if you go all the way to the end and lose, you drink those sips, and if you win, you get to look on and laugh as your friends have to down their beers. The beauty of the game is that you can still feel like you’re playing poker (because, well, you are), but the consequences of losing are so much more fun in this game than in real Texas Hold’em. And if you win, you still get to feel like a winner. It’s honestly become one of my favorite drinking games ever in the short time that I played it after I invented it.

Hopefully you all will give this a try and enjoy it as much as my friends and I did. Feel free to adjust any rules as you see fit. If you don’t like it, go fuck yourself. If someone else has already invented this, they can go fuck themselves, too.
