Out with the Old, In with the New

I won’t lie, I wasn’t expecting to be writing this article either, but Thomas Tuchel is no longer the Manager at Chelsea. I know the season started off poorly, but sheesh that was quick. I wonder if even Tuchel knew how short his shelf life was this season.

Now as a Chelsea fan, I think I like this move, but only on a very conditional note. If we are able to sign Graham Potter, which seemed like a fantasy but is progressing better and faster than I thought it ever would.

I’m sure many of you right now might be thinking, who the heck is Graham Potter? Well, let me show you who this guy is. Because he is legit. He has slowly been building the Brighton soccer team brick-by-brick since 2019. During his span as Manager of Brighton, he has led them to 15th, 16th, and 9th place finishes. Which, yes, is not the most impressive feat, but he also was working with a WAY smaller budget than the teams that beat him.

Not to mention the fact that this season has already started with Graham leading his team to fourth in the league with only one defeat. Among his wins this season has been a beat down of Manchester United to the tune of 4-0, and a win against Leicester City that ended 5-2. Not bad for a club that lost its two best players during this summer transfer window.

While this sacking does seem like a desperate move by a club that had zero creativity, if we can pull Graham Potter out of a hat, then I am by no means upset at it.
