“WAP” by Cardi B Feat. Megan Thee Stallion is probably the greatest song that has ever blessed my eardrums. My issue is that a lot of people don’t know the true meaning behind the lyrics, so I am here to set the record straight. I will be picking apart lines or sections and telling you the true meaning behind them. Let’s start with the controversial intro:

This intro is actually a sample from the 1993 smash hit “Whores In The House”. Cardi is very brave to use this as her intro. As we all know, only other women can call women “whores” so for Cardi to use a sample where a man is calling women “whores” is a very powerful choice. It shows how much Cardi has grown from her years of drugging and robbing men. Now, onto the first verse.

A lot of people think that this line is Cardi B referring to sex but, as we all know, Cardi is still a virgin so she can’t be talking about sex. The truth about this line is that her husband, Offset, has always wanted to be a truck driver, but got held back taking care of his 4 children. That’s why his most recent album is called Father Of 4.
I don’t cook, I don’t clean
But let me tell you how I got this ring
This line is a powerful feminist statement. Women have the right to be as nice or as mean to anyone they want because women are empowering to not just men, but to every citizen of the world. This line refers to how bad of a mother Cardi B is to her newborn daughter. She doesn’t cook food for her or even clean up after her but, because she already “got this ring”, there’s nothing stopping her from being a bad mom. She is a strong independent woman that can do whatever she wants.

Now it’s time for the beautiful Megan Thee Stallion to get it in verse 2. She says this line which, again, people think is about sex, but Megan is a virgin too. I have to give Cardi and Megan some credit for how well they hide their virginity in this song, it’s a very powerful message. This line is Megan pretending to be Ice cream and wants Cardi to eat her. She uses very descriptive words to tell Cardi exactly how she should eat her ice cream body.

Megan mentions in this line the dangers of having sex. She talks about a man who wants to have sex with her, but she won’t let him and that’s her choice. Megan is in charge of her own body and she doesn’t need the awful sin of intercourse to taint her reputation. It is a very strong message to any virgins out there, especially ones in their 50s.
At this point in the music video, we see a very beautiful woman walk through a hallway for about 25 seconds. This mystery woman is a symbolic message to all the young girls out there that you too can make it in a Cardi B music video someday. Just as long as you stay in school and are really fucking hot. Let’s move on.

In verse 3 Cardi talks about a man who is very rich. She wants his money and luckily has some experience with stealing money from men. She then mentions that his beard will get wet and he will get diabetes, this is when Cardi decides to become ice cream and wants this man who she just robbed to eat her ice cream body.

Verse 4 brings up some legal trouble that Megan got into a couple of years ago. Apparently a man had ripped out all of Megan’s hair during a fishing trip so she now has to wear a wig. During the court case discussing the legal repercussions of what this man did to Megan’s hair, the man screamed at Megan mentioning how he is better at fishing than she is. This made Megan so mad that she took off her wig and started to hit the man, bringing him to his knees and making him believe that she is, in fact, better at fishing.

As the final part of the song, Cardi B describes a situation where her cat fell into a muddy puddle and was soaking wet. She tells how she needed a bucket and a mop just to clean up the mess that the cat made but, as we know from the first verse, Cardi doesn’t cook or clean so she just sat in the corner with some uncooked macaroni screaming about her wet ass pussy.
This song is one for the books and should be sung at any social gathering, no matter how religious.
