Am I the only one who is banging my head against a wall here? Why the heck has Lamar Jackson not gotten paid yet? I mean not to compare him to others but uh, what is Deshaun “handsy” Watson getting paid again? Yea, Mr. “No more massages” is guaranteed 230 million dollars across 4 years after not playing since 2020. So what’s the holdup with Lamar?
Well, to be honest, I’ve tried to see this from the management perspective on Baltimore’s side and I really don’t see it. The biggest reason I can tell that the dotted line isn’t getting inked is that Baltimore is trying to get Lamar for very cheap. And by very cheap I mean not 230 million guaranteed dollars.
Alright, hear me out here, before you freak out at the idea of Lamar Jackson getting that much guaranteed cash just remember one big thing. Lamar Jackson has been playing in his games. Should I say it again for the people in the back? Lamar Jackson has played during 2021. Which apparently is the bar to earn 230 million guaranteed dollars in the NFL in 2022.
And besides having that bare minimum requirement. Lamar Jackson has been doing things like this during his NFL tenure.
Not to mention the fact that when Lamar played during the 2020-2021 season before he got injured in week 14, he had the Ravens at the top of the AFC North. That was a division that had the Super Bowl runner-up Cincinnati Bengals in it as well as the “never had a below 500 season” Mike Tomlin-led Steelers in it. Which is ok I guess. Not to mention that the Ravens were missing like a million players on the IR, most of which were starters.
I guess what I’m trying to say right now is just pay him. He’s your franchise, the only people that don’t seem to know this is the…..owner of the franchise.
