In my opinion, football doesn’t truly start until the first episode of Hard Knocks comes out. This year, Aaron Rodgers and the New Yorks J-E-T-S are the featured franchise that we get to follow for the next 5 weeks. Last year, Hard Knocks featured the Detroit Lions and I have to say, it’s going to be hard for the Jets to match how good last season was.
This is how the episode started and this is the epidemy of “Football Guy”.
If you weren’t fired up by that speech, you probably don’t like football or never played an organized sport in your life.
While it falls short of Jamaal Williams, “If you’re gonna piss like a puppy, stay on the porch and let big dawgs eat”
The thing that rattled me about this episode of Hard Knocks was how much boot-licking was done for Aaron Rodgers. Don’t get me wrong, it’s well deserved. He’s an MVP and Super Bowl Champion, but it was just a little odd how much the directors decided to highlight him. The whole point of hard knocks is to showcase the undrafted runningback from Middle Tennessee State A&M Poly Tech and form a relationship with him through the episodes and then have your heart ripped out when he gets cut.
We also got some raw practice footage of Sauce Garner and Garret Wilson going at it at practice and the football guy in me was climaxing the entire time. What’s better than football? Football in slow motion! I really hope we get more footage of them because it brought a true smile to my face.
This handshake went viral on social media earlier this summer, but it was heavily shown through the first episode. It’s a very funny handshake if you know anything about Aaron Rodgers and his off-season hobbies.
Overall, I think this was a good starting episode and I am so pumped to watch it next Tuesday. Can real football come any faster?
