With the combination of the internet and living through historical events our whole lives, I think we’ve become desensitized to things that should blow our mind.

Like, try and explain to your parents that one of the many “lil” rappers has surgically implanted a gem directly between his eyes simply because he wanted to. I guarantee you that the conversation will inevitably lead to a lecture about how our generation is stupid and careless. The question is, do they have a point?

Like my peers, I would do anything for a good laugh and a funny story. There’s also not one thing I can think of anymore that would surprise me. Uzi permanently put a gem in his dome piece? Yup, sounds about right. Lil Uzi has always been pretty out there, we should expect this by now.

Every celebrity is so desperately trying to stay relevant in this “everyones famous world.” So, they need to do things that keep people talking. For a while, Uzi’s thing was wearing whatever he wanted. Until Sir Harry Styles came in and swooped his dress wear from beneath his feet. So…forehead gem.

Now, is this a crazy thing to do in general? Yes, absolutely no doubt about it. But, Coachella girls have been rocking this look for years. The only difference is they didn’t SURGICALLY ENGRAVE IT INTO THEIR SKIN.

All in all, there’s little to no shock value to the good people of Gen Z. We can longer be impressed by outrageous things. I honestly respect Lil Uzi for being the weird little creep that he is. As Nicki Minaj once said “Uzi is my baby, he ain’t taken an L.” This might even turn into a trend.

So if you plan on getting a gem suck forever between your eyes, well…good luck Charlie.
